Während die genozidalen Angriffe gegen Gaza unter vollständiger internationaler Straflosigkeit weitergehen, gingen wir am 7. Februar 2026 erneut auf die Straße. Wir protestieren weiterhin für ein sofortiges und dauerhaftes Ende des Genozids, der Besatzung, für Gerechtigkeit und für die Befreiung Palästinas. Rund 1.000 Menschen versammelten sich in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen zu einer friedlichen monatlichen Demonstration.
Die Dokumentation der Festnahmen und der Polizeigewalt stammt von unserem Dokumentationsteam, das die Demonstration begleitet hat. Sie basiert auf Augenzeugenberichten, Aussagen der Festgenommenen sowie Video-, Audio- und Fotoaufnahmen.
Unser Team dokumentierte insgesamt 5 Festnahmen von Demonstrierenden durch die Berliner Polizei. Der Großteil dieser Festnahmen erfolgte gewaltsam und unter falschen oder nichtigen Vorwänden. Alle Festgenommenen wurden kurz darauf wieder freigelassen, was den willkürlichen Charakter der Polizeimaßnahmen unterstreicht.
Die Berliner Polizei eskalierte die Repression, als die Demonstration den Leopoldplatz erreichte. Von Beginn an setzten die Beamt:innen Einschüchterungs- und Gewalttaktiken ein. Sie nahmen Personen aus nichtigen Gründen fest, wie beispielsweise das Tragen eines zu einem Dreieck gefalteten Flyers. Bei mindestens einer Festnahme wandte die Polizei eindeutig unverhältnismäßige Gewalt an.
Unter den Festgenommenen war ein älteres Mitglied der Jüdischen Stimme. Diese Festnahme zeigt einmal mehr, wie unter der falschen Flagge der „Antisemitismusbekämpfung“ die deutsche Polizei palästinensische, arabische und rassifizierte Menschen, sowie antizionistische Jüd:innen verfolgt, die sich gegen die Besatzung stellen. Dies ist ein klarer Fall von politischer Repression und der Instrumentalisierung von Antisemitismusvorwürfen, um Kritik zu mundtot zu machen.
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG DER POLIZEIGEWALT
Die Polizei eskalierte Gewalt und Repression am Leopoldplatz.
Die Polizei nahm 5 Personen unter nichtigen Vorwänden fest.
Die Polizei setzte bei mindestens einer Festnahme unverhältnismäßige physische Gewalt ein.
Die Polizei zielte gezielt auf ein älteres Mitglied der *Jüdischen Stimme*.
Die Polizei verhinderte die friedliche Fortführung der Versammlung.
Diese Handlungen sind Teil eines anhaltenden Musters der Repression, das darauf abzielt, Solidarität mit Palästina zu kriminalisieren. Wir verurteilen diese Polizeigewalt und die politische Verfolgung dissidenter Stimmen.
Polizeigewalt muss enden
Versammlungs- und Meinungsfreiheit sind im Grundgesetz verankerte Grundrechte. Der Auftrag der Polizei ist es, diese Rechte zu schützen, nicht sie durch Einschüchterung und unverhältnismäßige Gewalt zu unterdrücken. Die willkürlichen Festnahmen legen die politische Voreingenommenheit und den institutionellen Rassismus innerhalb der Polizeipraxis offen. Wir lehnen diese staatliche Repression ab. Der Kampf für Gerechtigkeit und Befreiung wird weitergehen.
UNSERE FORDERUNGEN
Sofortiges Ende der Polizeigewalt und Verantwortlichkeit für Übergriffe
Die sofortige Beendigung aller unverhältnismäßigen und brutalen Polizeitaktiken. Der Einsatz wahlloser Gewalt, Schmerzgriffe und Würgetechniken verletzt die verfassungsrechtlich garantierte körperliche Unversehrtheit (Artikel 2 Absatz 2 GG) und verstößt gegen den Grundsatz der Verhältnismäßigkeit.
Die sofortige Suspendierung aller Beamt:innen, die an exzessiver Gewalt und Misshandlung beteiligt waren, bis zum Abschluss der Ermittlungen. Dies ist notwendig, um den Rechtsstaat zu wahren und sicherzustellen, dass Amtsträger:innen zur Verantwortung gezogen werden.
Vollständige unabhängige Untersuchung
Die Einrichtung einer vollständig unabhängigen und transparenten Untersuchung der Polizeigewalt. Dies ist erforderlich, um der staatlichen Schutzpflicht aus Artikel 1 Absatz 1 GG (Menschenwürde) und Artikel 2 Absatz 2 GG nachzukommen und Verletzungen dieser Grundrechte wirksam aufzuklären.
Institutionelle Reformen für sichere Versammlungen
Die formale Einführung robuster Kinderschutzmaßnahmen bei allen öffentlichen Demonstrationen. Diese ergeben sich aus der Ratifizierung der UN- Kinderrechtskonvention durch Deutschland.
Die Entwicklung und Durchsetzung konkreter Schutzmaßnahmen für vulnerable
Gruppen (einschließlich Kinder, Jugendliche, Frauen sowie trans-, nicht-binäre, queere und geflüchtete Personen). Der Staat hat die Pflicht, das Versammlungsrecht aller Teilnehmenden (Artikel 8 GG) zu schützen und Bedingungen zu schaffen, unter denen jede:r seine Rechte ohne Angst ausüben kann.
Zivilgesellschaftliche Kontrolle
Wir rufen alle nationalen und internationalen zivilgesellschaftlichen und menschenrechtlichen Organisationen dazu auf, das Muster der Polizeigewalt unabhängig zu dokumentieren und zu untersuchen. Eure Arbeit ist entscheidend, um der abschreckenden Wirkung auf Meinungs- (Artikel 5 GG) und Versammlungsfreiheit (Artikel 8 GG) entgegenzuwirken und öffentliche Rechenschaft dort einzufordern, wo staatliche Mechanismen versagen.

As the genocidal attacks on Gaza continue with full international impunity, we once again took to the streets on February 7th, 2026. We continue to protest for an immediate and permanent end to the genocide, the occupation, for justice, and for the liberation of Palestine. Around 1000 people gathered in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen for a peaceful monthly demonstration to uphold these demands.
The documentation of the arrests and police violence stems from our documentation team, which accompanied the demonstration. It is based on eyewitness reports, testimonies from those arrested, as well as video, audio, and photographic evidence.
In total, our team documented 5 arrests of protesters by the Berlin Police. The majority of these arrests were carried out violently and based on false or futile accusations. All those arrested were released shortly afterwards, underscoring the arbitrary nature of the police actions.
The Berlin police escalated repression as the demonstration reached Leopoldplatz. From the onset, the police employed tactics of intimidation and violence. Officers arrested people for futile reasons, such as carrying a flyer folded into the shape of a triangle. During one arrest, the police used clearly disproportionate violence against a protester. Among those targeted was an elder from Jüdische Stimme (Jewish Voice). This arrest demonstrates once again how, under the false flag of fighting antisemitism, the German police persecutes Palestinian, Arab, and racialized people, as well as anti-Zionist Jews who stand against the occupation. This is a clear case of political repression and the weaponization of antisemitism accusations to silence dissent.
SUMMARY OF POLICE VIOLENCE
The police escalated violence and repression at Leopoldplatz.
The police arrested 5 people under futile pretenses.
The police used disproportionate physical violence during at least one arrest.
The police specifically targeted an elder member of Jüdische Stimme.
The police prevented the peaceful continuation of the assembly.
These actions are part of a sustained pattern of repression aimed at criminalizing solidarity with Palestine. We condemn this police violence and the political persecution of dissent.
Police Violence Must End
Freedom of assembly and expression are fundamental rights enshrined in the German Constitution. The police's mandate is to protect these rights, not to suppress them through intimidation and disproportionate force. The arbitrary arrests expose the political bias and institutional racism within police practices.
We reject this state repression. The fight for justice and liberation will continue.
OUR DEMANDS
An Immediate End to Police Violence and Accountability for Abuse:
The immediate cessation of all disproportionate and brutal police tactics. The use of indiscriminate force, pain grips, and chokeholds violates the constitutional guarantee of bodily integrity (Article 2(2) of the Basic Law - GG) and breaches the Principle of Proportionality mandated for all state action.
The immediate suspension, pending investigation, of all officers involved in excessive force and mistreatment. This is a necessary step to uphold the Rule of Law (Rechtsstaatsprinzip) and ensure that public officials who violate their duty to protect citizens are held accountable.
The establishment of a fully independent and transparent investigation into the police brutality. This is required to fulfil the state's positive obligation under Article 1(1) GG (Human Dignity) and Article 2(2) GG to effectively investigate and address violations of these fundamental rights.

Institutional Reforms for Safe Assembly:
The formal introduction of robust child protection measures at all public demonstrations. This is a legal obligation arising from Germany's ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The development and enforcement of concrete protective measures for vulnerable groups (including children, youth, women, and trans, non-binary, queer, and refugee individuals). The state has a duty to protect all participants' right to assembly (Article 8 GG) and must create conditions where everyone can exercise their rights without fear.

We call upon all national and international civil society and human rights organizations to independently document and investigate the pattern of police violence. Their work is crucial to counter the chilling effect on freedom of expression (Article 5 GG) and assembly (Article 8 GG), and to ensure public accountability where state mechanisms fail.
